I’ve recently completed my very first series of oil paintings entitled SOCCER SHORTS. Comprising of 10 paintings, 10 x 10 inches, each features a pair of vintage satin Adidas soccer shorts from the 1980’s in a solid color. Together they create a rainbow of colors; a nod to the gay fetishization of this gear. On a personal level, I share this homo erotic interest, and being that Soccer was the first sport I ever played as a child, I felt it apropos as a ‘beginner’ in both oil painting and realism, to start with a simple series of Soccer shorts, a rather ideal study in color, shadow and rendering to start off this game!
